DIY DYE // LIFESTYLE

I've got 2 pairs of Topshop black jeans that have both faded but I've been so reluctant to buy some new ones so I decided to save some money and try dying them back to the original colour instead. I only did one pair just in case it went wrong but I also tried a dark blue pair that I used to love and wear so much that I wore the knees out!

I used Dylon Wash & Dye Velvet Black which you can pick up for £5.99 here. It's a lot easier to use than others which you have to hand wash as you add this dye to your washer so there's not much hassle in doing it apart from having to do two washes...and maybe a third if there's any dye left in the washer!

Left: The pair I didn't dye                     Right: The dyed pair

The results were perfect! They've dyed back to black as if they were new which has saved me over £30. The dark blue jeans didn't dye as well because the stitching was a different colour and it states on the packet that it won't dye stitching. Therefore the jeans have gone black but the stitching is still the yellowish colour you get on dark blue jeans but nevertheless they are still velvet black!
